Florida – An innocent puppy in Florida is fighting for his life after someone shot off one of his legs, and severely injured a rear leg. Please sign the petition asking for the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office to fully investigate this horrific act of cruelty and hold the person responsible fully accountable for this crime.

On Monday, the Leon County Humane Society was contacted about an injured puppy who was seeking shelter at a school yard in Liberty County. A volunteer with the animal welfare agency retrieved the pup and brought him to a veterinarian for care. An exam revealed that he had been shot at close range. The pup, dubbed Everett, is now fighting for his life at Buck Lake Animal Hospital.

Please join us in asking the local authorities to find the person responsible and charge them appropriately for this heinous act of cruelty!

Update 6/29/19: The Leon County Humane Society reports that Everett is “flourishing” in foster care. He is enjoying belly rubs and treats and he is doing his best to get around on three legs, though he tires easily. He is proving himself to be a resilient and forgiving puppy.

Update 6/17/19: The Humane Society of the United States is offering $5,000 for information leading to the arrest of whoever is responsible for shooting this puppy!

* Individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
